The Other Half Of The Cinemassacre Duo

It's safe to assume quite a number of you are familiar with and if not then you're probably familiar with the series which seemed to skyrocket the sites popularity; James Rolfe's ‘Angry Videogame Nerd'. Starting out as an independent filmmaker, Rolfe intended for his earliest videos of the Nerd character to be a joke privately shown to his friends. Your more serious videos are like if the character of the AVGN, but on benzos. There have been so many James and I have played since The Angry Video Game Nerd started.

In May 2004, Rolfe created his first on-camera game reviews just for fun; utilizing insult commentary with exaggerated bewilderment to two games; Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde under the title of "Bad NES Games", which would later become the signature of the Nerd character.

So, we were in a position where there wasn't going to be any new web-videos from James on the website for roughly half a year. In the course of the interview, our guest discussed many key points he's made in past videos, what has inspired him to create Zelda content on Cinemassacre, and why he enjoys the series so much.

VGFaq - Video Games Frequently Asked Questions - was born out of passion for video games. I believe the first Zelda video I wrote for Cinemassacre was The Angry Video Game Nerd is Chronologically Confused About the Legend of Zelda Timeline ”. In response to them and to the games, the Nerd derives comic appeal from excessive and surrealistic use of fantasy scenarios, anger, and consumption of Rolling Rock (in addition to Yuengling in later videos) while reviewing video games.

An album based from the movie was released in 2014 composed by Bear McCreary, who had previously worked with Rolfe on the webseries Christmas special. Mike: Making videos is a ton of fun. While Mike's solo videos began to appear long before production began for the Angry Video Game Nerd Movie, Mike's contributions helped fill the void during James' many absences during the film's production and satisfy hungry fans.

Well, Zelda is my favorite video game franchise. Pretty much every major game review show online today has AVGN” to thank for establishing its format. Sweet thanks for the review Mike I didnt even know this game was out i will defiantly be playing it this weekend, love the old mega man games from NES.

Rolfe's character, "The Nerd", is a short-tempered and foul-mouthed video game fanatic who is sometimes besieged by guest characters from video games and popular culture. I help James come up with ideas and record gameplay footage for The Angry Video Game Nerd web series.

The Angry Video Game Nerd” was the pioneering internet gamer” show. For me personally, the Wii U has a lot more games on it that I'm interested in playing than the Xbox One or the PS4. I kind of lost interest in AVGN over the years, but James and Mike Mike Matei Mondays bring me back to the site every week (and Monster Madness brings me back every day when it's october).

There are also some very nice cameos from other ceinemassacre videos which any fan will plot itself is based around all of the ET Atari games being hidden in the landfill. As for fighting games, I love Smash Bros. The Nerd uses a NES Zapper as his main weapon, and a character known as Naggi the Patronizing Firefly, a parody of Navi from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, guides him through the tutorial.

On May 11th, 2012, Matei uploaded "Minecraft with Gadget," a video in which he and an animated version of Inspector Gadget, voiced by Matei, reviewed the IOS port of Minecraft In the video, Inspector Gadget has trouble pronouncing the name of the game, eventually calling it "Minecrapap He repeated the name several times during the video, eventually repeating "I love to build brown bricks with mine crap." This spawned the Brown Bricks meme.
